While sampling many Nutmeg essential oils and CO2's, we have found this steam distilled variety to have the brightest and most complete aroma. Nutmeg has been used as a food spice for many, many centuries. And as with most well-known spices, it has a long history of medicinal use as well. Nutmeg has a warm, earthy-spicy aroma. Aromatically, the oil is a bright 'pick-me-up', and can be used in cases of adrenal-fatigue and support for a tired nervous system. As a mental stimulant, the aroma is calming and focusing, with an energy of comfort.

Therapeutically, the oil is regarded as a digestive stimulant, it can be employed in a massage blend for the abdominal region, and may help those with poor or weak digestive 'fire'.

Nutmeg is an excellent choice for warming and pain relieving blends for joints and muscles. It is considered an analgesic, antirheumatic and antispasmodic. Nutmeg may be combined with Ginger for a more dramatic warming effect, though one should reduce the overall concentration of essential oil in these blends to 5% or less.
