All Ananda's pure essential oils are of therapeutic quality, the highest grade aromatherapy oils available. They are produced to the utmost standards to ensure all chemical constituents stay intact from plant to bottle - read about our rigorous selection process here. These are pure essential oils as they contain no adulterants in any way. The oils are full-strength and should be used with care! Most should be diluted in a carrier oil before topical application. All can be used in an aromatherapy diffuser directly from the bottle, but again, start slowly for the most enjoyable experience. Fennel Oil, Sweet, Organic

Foeniculm vulgare from Egypt - steam distilled, organic - from the seeds. • Therapeutic grade • Top to middle note • Sweet, mildly spicy aroma of crushed Fennel • Aromatherapy use: Sweet Fennel is excellent for cleansing the body of toxins due to excesses of food, alcohol, etc. and is considered to be a tonic for the digestive system. Caution - avoid if pregnant, nursing, or if you have epilepsy or endometriosis.

Abes siberica from Russia - steam distilled, organic - from the needles. • Therapeutic grade • Top to middle note • Bright, warm, evergreen aroma • Aromatherapy use: Fir needle is wonderfully uplifting while grounding at the same time. An excellent choice for diffuser use for bringing a 'deep forest' aroma to your home. Also commonly used for breathing complaints.

Frankincense Essential Oil, Wildcrafted

Boswellia carteri from Somalia - CO2 extract, wildcrafted - from the resin. • Therapeutic grade • Middle to base note • Woody, earthy, with rich citrus note • Aromatherapy use: This is a very high quality oil with an exceptional aroma. The CO2 extraction process captures a broader spectrum of the classic Frankincense scent - it is more complex than is typical, with a deeply mysterious nuance and rich, resinous woody notes. The oil is grounding, and often used during meditation to calm the mind and slow breathing rate. Wild trees are not harmed by the harvesting of the resin.

Galbanum Essential Oil, Organic

Ferula galbaniflua from Iran - CO2 extract, organic - from the resin. • Therapeutic grade • Middle to base note • Woody, Green and Leafy • Aromatherapy use: Burned historically as an incense, Galbanum resin has now been extracted using the cool CO2 process, producing a very fine essential oil. Whereas the steam distilled varieties have often smelled somewhat 'burnt', the CO2 distillation allows for the complete aroma to come through of this very unique plant. Frequently requested, we've chosen this excellent distillation to do the natural plant resin justice. Often used as a base note in natural perfumery and meditative blends.

Geranium Essential Oil, Organic Pelargonium graveolens from Reunion Island - steam distilled, organic - from the leaves and flowering tops.

Geranium Essential Oil, Rose, Wildcrafted Pelargonium roseum from Albania - steam distilled, organic - from the leaves and flowering tops.

• Aromatherapy use: There are many species and cultivars of geranium which vary widely in color, aroma and application. Ours is the very best Rose Geranium that we have sampled, with a wonderful rose note. It is useful in many formulas for applying to the skin, and blends well with other floral oils, citrus notes and woody oils such as patchouli and sandalwood. Although Rose Geranium is not a substitute for real rose oil, it can be added to rose formulas as a way to enhance the rose notes and reduce the amount of true rose oil used.

Helichrysum Italicum (Everlasting Oil), Organic Helichrysum italicum from Corsica - steam distilled, Organic - from the flowers.

• Aromatherapy use: There are many Helichrysum species available, with the italicum variety, sub-species 'serotinum', considered the most important in aromatherapy. Known for it's regenerative 'ketones', it is included in many skin formulas for wrinkle and scar reduction - effective at low concentrations, a little goes a long way. Hyssop Essential Oil, decumbens, Natural Source Hyssop decumbens from Spain - steam distilled, natural source - from the leaves/tops.

• Aromatherapy use: Hyssop decumbens is considered the only hyssop variety safe for aromatherapy use. Hyssop is one of the most potent anti-viral essential oils. When inhaled, its aroma is supposedly very effective in loosening tightness in the chest and in relieving bronchial spasms.

Inula graveolens from France - steam distilled, organic - from the roots.

• Therapeutic grade • Middle note • Sweetly medicinal, herbaceous aroma
• Aromatherapy use: Inula is considered the strongest mucoltyic in aromatherapy, meaning it will help move congestion like no other oil. Useful in cases of coughs, 'un-productive' coughs, sinus infections and any sort of bronchial trouble where difficulty breathing is an issue. Used by many asthmatics to open the breathing passages. Noted to be effective in very low doeses, even where the scent of the oil can just be detected. A deep blue/neon color, with a floral/cineol aroma. Very unique in many ways, and an excellent oil to have around for many reasons; likely to have strong anti-microbial and immuno-stimulant actions.

Jasmine Oil, Pure Absolute Jasminum grandiflorum and sambac from India - Absolute - from the flowers.

• Therapeutic grade • Middle note • Rich, warm, deeply floral and complex aroma
• Aromatherapy use: This is a lovely pure absolute made from both Grandflorum (the deep, 'sultry' jasmine) and Sambac (the bright, somewhat sweeter variety). Can be used alone or added to blends in small amounts; a very powerful aroma - a little goes a long way. Jasmine is an oil that brings a lightness and happy feeling to those who use it. Perhaps because it helps to dispel fear and guilt, Patricia Davis notes that Jasmine is the most important oil for those who want to spiritualize the intimate aspect of their relationships.

Juniper Berry Essential Oil Juniperus communis from India - CO2 distilled - from the berries.

• Aromatherapy use: This wildcrafted Juniper Berry oil has a fresh, vibrant aroma just like actual juniper berries.
