Hi,
It really does sound like a method of using too high a concentration of essential oils at once. Generally, 'less is more' with EO's, because of their concentrated nature. Better to have a tea light or diffuser running in a room for awhile where you'll be inhaling the oil more diffusely. If you do use the pipe route, try to heat the oil as little as possible, as it will evaporate quickly and you don't want it to burn!
