Using EO's in stressful situations (animals)
Wanted to get some others' input on this. I have read in more than one place to always, always introduce a new essential to an animal when the animal is completely calm and there is no potential stressor (and this comes from the theory that all non-human animals' behavior is a conditioned response). Assuming such a stress-free situation like that ever exists for an animal, is this not contradictory to the very reason why we would use certain EO's? So in other words, we could never go grab the Lavender or Sandalwood or Rose for an animal that is in an acute stressful situation? Ideally, yes, you would have already introduced the particular oil to the animal in a calmer situation, but what about rescue situations where you have never seen the animal before?
Just curious what others think about this. Something just isn't ringing true for me to say "never use a new EO in a stressful situation with an animal".
thanks, sarah

Probably best is adding five flower formula (rescue remedy) to their water - animals are very sensitive to flower essences.
