Re: Best remedy for cold sores? Hi hijackson, I think the best single oil for cold sores is Melissa. Cold sores are a form of the Herpes Simplex virus. Check out the link to the Ananda page for this oil. There is a recipe for a blend that you could try. Regards, Sue

Re: Best remedy for cold sores? I've had very good results with Melissa. Totally relieved pain.
When a tiny new blister started developing I went back to acyclovir, which I'd been using daily prophylactically. But I only needed a total of three doses over two days, which means that with Melissa I reduced my antibiotic use enormously. Plus, when I used to get an outbreak I'd have to increase the acyclovir dose for several days.
So I'm VERY happy with melissa & will use it the next time there's trouble.

Re: Best remedy for cold sores? Yes, it should not be a problem. Do see if they're sensitive to it after the first application, but this should not be the case.
