Post Wintergreen and aspirin allergies
My fiance has an aspirin allergy. If I use wintergreen on myself, will the smell cause an allergic reaction for him if he inhales it? Or will it only cause problems if the oil gets on him?

Hi Emily. I think the smell alone would trigger a response. This is a case when only trial-and-error will do, though.

Let us know how it works out.

Hi Merlin.

Unfortunately, I don't think I should "trial and error" test this.
If it goes badly, my fiance will end up in the hospital.

Maybe this is one I should just do without.

Given what may happen, I totally agree. Depending upon your intended use, there may be other oils that will serve as well as wintergreen.

I was wanting it for muscle and joint pain, for its low cost compared to others, and my desire to do away with OTC pain medications. I have relied so heavily on it for so many years, it has done internal damage.

Ananda offers a blend for this purpose, which is less expensive than purchasing helichrysum, although that is definitely THE go-to oil for what you are wanting.

Another good one is plai.
