Essential Oils Soothe Summer Bites and Stings

Warm weather and summer rains mean more than just lush gardens: they mean bites and stings from mosquitoes, bees, red ants, stinging nettles, and other bugs.

Lavender

Soothes and calms mind and body.

Just yesterday my partner headed unknowingly into unfortunate contention with a beehive in our tool shed, when we got to test the oils.

Watching him run across the yard swatting at his neck (go for the jugular, indeed), I immediately headed for the Blue Tansy and Lavender Skin Balm from Ananda Apothecary. After applying 2-3 drops to his multiple stings, the itching, stinging, and swelling resolved within minutes.

Not all encounters with biters are so dramatic. Common mosquito bites can be itchy and uncomfortable, but a drop or two on each bite makes them disappear overnight. Blue Tansy‘s anti-inflammatory power, combined with the soothing, firming actions of Lavender in the regenerative Tamanu oil, lends this bug balm features to make your summer itch-free.

Inflammation's nemesis

Even when applied to blemishes, the swelling and redness dramatically decrease overnight. Win. Win. Win.

Here’s the recipe for you to try:

2 ml Blue Tansy
1 ml Wild Lavender
9 ml Tamanu Oil or Virgin Coconut Oil

Mix well, and apply directly to the skin. Soothes itching and irritation within minutes. Eliminates swelling associated with bug bites, and even blemishes. Those mosquitoes are after me now, but I fear not :)
