"When you can't get out of it, get into it."

For those of us who cope with stress at work and in life, it is useful to relieve the effects of stress, such as nervous tension and sleeplessness. What we sometimes overlook is the necessity for increased energy to confront the stress in our lives. By adding some energy to the stressful situation, we enable ourselves to create with it.

Butoh teacher Sheri Brown speaks of the need for either a shaman or a lullabye. Lullabyes enable us to step away from our situation, to settle down, and relax. While many times we focus on lullabyes in times of stress, cordials sing a courting song to our inner shamans. The shaman confronts and transmutes the stress into creation.

How do you know when you need a shaman? Have you seen this situation before? Are you ready for it to stop? Are you ready to realize your value, and put an end to patterned behavior? That's when you need a shaman.

Cordials encourage your inner shaman with their ability to  invigorate and stimulate, bringing energy when life is demanding that we show up. Many essential oils have cordial properties: Anise, Marjoram, Melissa, Mugwort, Neroli, and Peppermint.

Try this simple, clean blend to invigorate you in times of fatigue from stress.

3 drops Marjoram

3 drops Melissa

3 drops Neroli

Apply directly to the wrists, inhale from the vial, or diffuse to enjoy a roomful of peaceful, eye-opening energy. (Use 5 drops each in a diffuser.)

May you rely upon innate inner strength, and know that no obstacle you are presented with is insurmountable. Courage is not an inborn trait, it is a practice of acting in spite of fear.
