Question about Methyl eugenol-containing essential oils

Post by Chigirl40 » Sat Jun 14, 2014 1:01 pm

Someone recently cautioned me about ingesting Methyl eugenol-containing essential oils. (Clove, fennel, basil, tarragon, black pepper...). So, I started doing some searching and there are some clear warnings out there. However, the warnings seem to come from studies where just this compound alone was tested. In natural therapeutic oils there are many compounds mixed together, so I'm wondering if that makes a difference. Just wanted to get an opinion on this.

I am usually very sensitive to just about everything, but have yet to have an oil bother me. Well, except patchouli. Definitely don't like that oil.

Your own experience is far more important than any so-called authority. If you are not suffering any ill effects, than by all means, carry on!
