first timer

For example, how do you figure out a 3% concentration of your essential oil in 29 milliliters of carrier oil?

first timer

Post by cpg827 » Mon Mar 24, 2014 10:58 am

Hi all!!!! I am a first timer and very interested in using oils for health and beauty. However I am lost and confused with all the amounts to use. Is there an easy list of recipes or conversions of amounts?

Thanks

Hi - this VERY much depends on your desired applications. Generally, for skin care, you'll want to aim for a 3% concentration of essential oils in carrier(s). That's a TOTAL of 1ml of essential oil(s) in each 1 oz of carrier - or approximately 30 drops of essential oil.

With more details, we can offer more support :)

Best,
Eric

does this apply to all oils and carrier oils? is that a good ratio to start with? and can they all be applied safely to the bottom of feet and work correctly for medicinal reasons?
Thanks

The ratio of oils to carrier usually varies, depending upon use. Also, the number of drops in a ml are mostly different for each.

Applying the mixtures to the soles of the feet is a good method.

Hi,

They can help break up mucus (this is an expectorant) and open the breathing passages. 'Eucalyptol' is what's in Vic's Vapor Rub...this is in all Eucalyptus varieties (Blue Gum being the one with the highest amount), Rosemary, and many other essential oils. Best used in a diffuser so you can breathe them in!

Try a bit and see if it works for your family, as everyone responds somehwat differently to both essential and carrier oils.
