Dogs and fleas

Post by bcarver » Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:20 am

I have purchased a 'cedar oil' spray for my dog that is supposed to kill fleas on contact. Well, it definitely reduced the fleas, but didn't eliminate all of them. Could I use your cedar oil to make a spray for my dog? I hate giving her poisonous flea killers.

Yes, it seems both Cedarwood and/or Geranium essential oils can be used.

You may use one or the other, or try them in combination. Make a 3% concentration of the essential oil in water and spray/brush on.

To do this, add 8ml essential oil to each 8oz (1 cup) of water, and an equivalent amount of tween (see our 'bottles and pipettes' page for tween - this helps emulsify the essential oil in water so they stay mixed). Use Texas cedarwood, our our South African Geranium essential oils. Shake well and spray & brush once per day. Let us know the results!
