Blending/Emulsifying Powder Extract with Essential Oil

For example, how do you figure out a 3% concentration of your essential oil in 29 milliliters of carrier oil?
Any and all questions by those needing a little help, and sharing by those who've been there :)

Hi,

Well, you MAY have luck suspending the powder in water first, then in oil -- it won't go plainly in oil. Without a recipe, you'd have to see what would work - making a milkshake-thickness suspension of water and bark powder, then blending this with oil. Some sort of emulsifying agent would assist the process, like TWEEN (on our 'bottles' page...) We just don't have a recipe book here that describes what you're looking for...

SO MUCH EASIER would be to use Wintergreen or Birch essential oils instead of the powder. These essential oils are about 98% methyl salicylate, are rapidly absorbed topically, and will of course suspend in your carrier oil. A 10% concentration is commonly recommended for this, and one generally wants to use, overall, as little as necessary for the desired result.
