Spiritual Traditions of Jasmine Oil
The most common apparition in many peoples’ minds of the jasmine flower is in the Hawaiian lei, often filled with flowers from Pikake, the Jasminum sambac vine, or from the traditional jasmine garlands worn upon the head of the newly wed in eastern countries. Jasmine is involved in many spiritual traditions as it is thought to effectively balance the feminine energy in the body. The jasmine aroma was also used in the scenting of various ointments used in spiritual traditions. (Guenther, E. (1952) The Essential Oils. London: Macmillan).
