Essential Oil Recipes for Natural Cleaning
How to Clean the Room Where We Clean Ourselves
Who doesn't love a clean home? Cleaning with essential oils enables us to sanitize and disinfect safely, without the risks of chemical cleansers. All of the ingredients in the following recipes are edible, and effective at making the loo squeaky clean.
Sinks, Countertops, and Tub Blend:
- 2 Tbsp Baking Soda (1/4 cup for tubs)
- 5 drops Lemon essential oil (10 for tubs)
- Enough water to make a thick paste
Combine ingredients to make a paste that both cuts grease, dissolves build-up, and kills germs. Use a heavy cloth or clean sponge to scrub the mixture into the basin, then rinse, and a few more drops of lemon oil to the damp cloth to wipe the countertops.
- 1/4 cup Baking Soda
- 12 drops "Benchmark" Thyme
Sprinkle baking soda into the bowl, then add 8 drops of Thyme oil into the water. Apply the remaining 2 drops to the rim of the bowl, behind the seat. Add two drops to your cloth or sponge. Brush the baking soda onto the bowl's
sides to remove debris, as the Thyme oil disinfects. When the bowl is complete, disinfect the handle, followed by the rim and base of the commode. Voila! Sparkly!
- 1/4 cup White Vinegar
- Water (about half a common household mop bucket)
- 10 drops of essential oil (Pine, Lemon, Tea Tree, or Thyme)
Pour the vinegar into a bucket of water, then add the oils of your choice. Lemon and Pine specialize in grease cutting and disinfection, while Tea Tree and Thyme are more notable for complete disinfection.
