CBD ('cannabidiol') is one of over 100 identified cannabinoids found in Cannabis sativa, and perhaps most importantly for us, it is the most abundant cannabinoid found in 'industrial' hemp (and for this reason, is legal in all 50 states). CBD CO2-extract concentrate contains only trace amounts of THC, and subsequently has no psychoactive properties. It is safely given to children to reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures, and is not known to produce false-positives in urine drug screens. CBD, unlike the psychoactive cannabinoids, does not interact with the CB1 receptors of our body's own endo-cannabinoid system. Our bodies do make their own cannabinoids, and much of CBD's actions result from its inhibition of the enzyme which naturally breaks these down - so our body's own cannabinoids (ex. 'anandamide') have a stronger, longer lasting effect.

Ananda's CBD formulas are different than anything else on the market. They are based in MCT Coconut oil, with Rosemary Antioxidant added - as CBD extract itself is relatively perishable. MCT Coconut oil (simply Coconut oil with the heavier molecules 'fractionated' out, so the oil stays liquid at all temperatures) had the naturally-longest shelf life of any edible oil. Rosemary Antioxidant CO2-extract is the most efficient antioxidant known for preserving oils and oil-soluble extracts. With the well-known psycho-activity of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the use of cannabis all-day, every-day, even for health support, has some obvious limitations. While the science supporting THC for medicinal applications is growing quickly, in most cases, no matter what health-supportive purpose one is using cannabinoids for, being 'high' all day won't work for most of us. However, cannabis has at least 60 other cannabinoids that interact with our endo-cannabinoid system – the most extensively studied of these being CBD. CBD is the most abundant cannabinoid in the hemp plant, which is virtually free of psychoactive cannabinoids.
