From Ananda Aromatherapy, pure Juniper Berry essential oil steam distilled from berries wild-grown in Bulgaria and CO2-distilled from berries grown in India. After a long search for the perfect Juniper Berry essential oils, we've found these two to be the most brilliant. The steam distilled is bright, with wonderful high notes, and the CO2 richer in middle tones.

Juniper Berry essential oil is a clear liquid
with a fresh, woody-balsamic, slightly sweet aroma. The bright, wildgrown, forest-like scent of this Juniper
blends well with many oils, and has been noted to evoke feelings of love, health, and peace. We especially like using it in a diffuser or humidifier to fill the space with the aroma - evoking many
who enter the space to remark, "It
smells so good
in here!" Juniper berries are the common source for the oil; when distilled from the needles and twigs, it is not as uplifting an aroma, and does not seem to be considered as therapeutic.
may elevate one's spiritual awareness, and on a physical level, Juniper may work as a general detoxifier and cleanser, as well as being beneficial for the skin.
oil is distilled from the berries of an evergreen shrub native to just about everywhere
in the Northern Hemisphere. The needles and berries of Juniper have a long history of traditional herbal use
- They have been used medicinally for urinary infections such as cystitis and urethritis, for respiratory complaints
such as bronchitis and coughs, as well as gastrointestinal infections. Juniper is current in the British
Herbal Pharmacopoeia for rheumatic pain and cystitis.
One not-so-medicinal use: Bundles of Juniper berries were hung over doorways to ward off witches during medieval
We really like to blend Juniper oil with other evergreen essential oils like Pine, Black Spruce and Balsam Fir. Only a small amount is needed in relation to the other oils to bring out the top, sweet 'fruity' notes.
| Diffuse or apply Juniper essential oil topically. Diffusing in a room or
house may help 'clear the air'. May be added to food or soy/rice milk and taken as a supplement.
||Always test a small amount of essential oil first for sensitivity or allergic
reaction. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult a physician.

Oil and Aromatherapy Recipe pages.
