The Ananda Standard

The Standard determines what enters the House.

The Ananda Apothecary™ selects, evaluates, documents, formulates, and releases therapeutic botanical materials according to a rigorous working standard developed since 2004.

Selection Begins with the Material

Botanical name, plant part, origin, cultivation, extraction method, composition, aromatic character, condition, and intended application all inform whether a material is suitable for the House.

Multiple samples may meet conventional specifications. Far fewer demonstrate the coherence, vitality, and material character required for selection.

Organoleptic and Analytical Evaluation

The trained senses and analytical documentation serve different purposes.

Organoleptic evaluation reveals distinctions in aromatic structure, balance, development, and character that technical specifications alone cannot establish. GC/MS, GC–FID, certificates of analysis, and supporting documentation help verify identity, composition, and conformity.

Neither replaces the other.

Batch Documentation

Where available and appropriate, materials are supported by batch-specific analytical and technical documentation. This allows the House to evaluate the material actually being offered rather than relying solely on generalized supplier specifications.

Relevant documentation will be made available through product pages, Batch Verification Reports, and the Library as this work is completed.

Maturation and Ananda Reserves

Some materials are best released close to distillation. Others—particularly selected woods, roots, resins, and reserve oils—may develop greater cohesion through controlled maturation.

Time alone does not improve a material. Its condition is evaluated throughout the process, and maturation is used only where it serves the material.

Formulation and Release

Selection does not end with the individual material. Formulations are evaluated for purpose, proportion, aromatic structure, material compatibility, application, and stability.

A material or formulation enters the Cabinet only when it is ready to represent the Standard.

A Working Standard

The Standard is applied to every current material, batch, formulation, and release. It continues to develop as new materials are evaluated, analytical documentation is reviewed, and the House's records are restored.

The Library documents this work through botanical monographs, research indexes, formulation notes, material comparisons, and Batch Verification Reports.
