All Ananda's pure essential oils are of therapeutic quality, the highest grade aromatherapy oils available. They are produced to the utmost standards to ensure all chemical constituents stay intact from plant to bottle - read about our rigorous selection process here. These are pure essential oils as they contain no adulterants in any way. The oils are full-strength and should be used with care! Most should be diluted in a carrier oil before topical application. All can be used in an aromatherapy diffuser directly from the bottle, but again, start slowly for the most enjoyable experience. Lavender Essential Oil, High Elevation, Natural Source

Lavendula angustifolia from France - steam distilled - from the flowers.

• Therapeutic grade • Top note • Floral, lightly herbaceous, complex.
• Aromatherapy use: This is a lovely, well-rounded lavender, from high-elevation regions where the most fragrant lavender is grown. Lavender is the most used and well regarded essential oil for a broad array of uses. The aroma is very calming, and can be used 'neat' anywhere on the body or in a diffuser for this. Lavender has powerful healing and anti-inflammatory properties for healing the skin. For it's wonderful effects, it has been called 'medicine chest in a bottle'.

Citrus limon from Italy - cold pressed, organic - from the peels of ripe fruit.

Lemon Tea Tree Essential Oil, Natural Source

Leptospermum pertersonii from Australia - steam distilled - from the leaves.

• Therapeutic grade • Top note • Fresh, clean, bright lemon aroma
• Aromatherapy use: A powerful antimicrobial as are the other eucalyptus varieties, but perhaps even stronger. Very effective mosquito repellent, though it should be diluted to less than 10% in a carrier as to not irritate the skin, and to remain active for a longer time. Lemon Tea Tree is also useful for easing nervous tension, depression, anxiety and stress.

Commiphora myrrha from Somalia - steam distilled, wildcrafted - from the resin.

• Aromatherapy use: An oil of ancient history, one of the three gifts - in resin form - given to the newborn Jesus. Used as an incense in spiritual rituals, myrrh can bring a quiet stillness to the mind, deepening meditative states. Combine with Frankincense and Cedarwood for a wonderful yogic anointing oil. Also used as an antiseptic, astringent, expectorant, to help stop bleeding, and may be useful for boosting immune system. Wild trees are not harmed in the harvesting of the resin.

Myrtus communis from Spain - steam distilled, wildcrafted - from the leaves.

• Aromatherapy use: This Green Myrtle of the Linalool chemotype is useful in treating lung and respiratory conditions, particularly of the young and elderly because of its exceptional gentleness. The aroma is also advised for soothing the feelings of anger, envy and greed, and alleviating headaches by rubbing on the temples. Also a valuable addition to cosmetic formulas for oily or irritated, inflamed skin.
