Athlete Magic™
Post-Exertion Topical Recovery Blend · Helichrysum · CO₂ Extracts
Core Formula · Available Year-Round
There is a particular kind of fatigue that only shows up after the effort is over. The ride is finished, the work is done, the long day has ended — and now the body is telling you exactly where it was asked to work hardest.
Athlete Magic™ was made for that part.
Helichrysum sits at the centre of the formula, with Ginger, Frankincense, and German Chamomile CO₂ extracts chosen for different roles in post-exertion care. The formula is intended for deliberate massage over muscles, joints, and surrounding tissue when the body feels worked, tight, or slow to loosen.
Eric R. Cêch formulated Athlete Magic™ around the demands of his own athletic life. It reflects the Ananda approach at its most practical: understand what the body is asking for, know the materials, and build the formula accordingly.
Overview
Athlete Magic™ is for the recovery side of physical effort.
Apply it when an area feels worked, tight, heavy, or reluctant to move as freely as usual. The light MCT base gives enough slip for deliberate massage, while the botanical formula brings warmth and a concentrated aromatic presence without overwhelming sensation.
It is not designed to numb discomfort or encourage you to work through an injury. Use it while the body is recovering. When the area feels comfortable and movement has returned, there is no reason to keep applying it.
Questions & Answers
Why are Ginger, German Chamomile, and Frankincense used as CO₂ extracts?
Because in these three materials, the volatile essential oil is not the whole part of the plant we wanted.
Ginger Root CO₂ carries the pungent gingerol- and shogaol-rich fraction alongside its aromatic constituents, giving the formula its warming character. Gingerols have also been studied for a possible role in circulation.
German Chamomile CO₂ was selected as a concentrated chamomile extract for the tender, reactive side of overworked tissue. The original batch used in Athlete Magic™ is no longer available for detailed analysis, so we describe its role at the botanical-extract level rather than assigning a constituent profile from a later material.
Frankincense Carterii CO₂ carries a broader resin-associated fraction than the distilled essential oil alone. That matters in a formula built around muscles, joints, and worked tissue because Boswellia carteri resin itself contains triterpene constituents studied in inflammatory models.
The CO₂ extracts therefore are not interchangeable additions. Each brings a part of the plant that serves a different function within the finished recovery formula.
What does Athlete Magic™ actually do after a workout?
Athlete Magic™ combines massage with botanicals selected for the way worked tissue tends to feel after exertion: tight, heavy, tender, or slow to loosen.
Ginger CO₂ supplies the formula's warming element. Helichrysum remains its botanical centre. German Chamomile CO₂ brings a concentrated chamomile fraction chosen for areas that feel particularly tender or reactive, while Frankincense CO₂ gives the blend a slower, resinous foundation.
It does not claim to rebuild muscle or accelerate tissue repair. Its job is simpler: give worked areas a focused period of warmth, massage, and topical care while the body recovers.
Can I use it every day after training?
Yes.
During demanding training periods or sustained physical work, use Athlete Magic™ on the areas that consistently feel most worked. A small amount with deliberate massage is usually enough.
Once the area feels comfortable and normal movement has returned, pause until you need it again.
Why choose this instead of arnica, magnesium, or a menthol muscle rub?
Because Athlete Magic™ takes a different approach.
It does not depend on an intense cooling, heating, or numbing sensation. Instead, it combines Helichrysum with Ginger, German Chamomile, and Frankincense CO₂ extracts in a light massage base.
If you want the unmistakable cold of menthol or a single-material preparation such as arnica, choose that. Athlete Magic™ is for someone who wants a composed botanical recovery oil that can be worked slowly into muscles, joints, and surrounding tissue.
Will it leave me greasy or smelling like a traditional sports rub?
No traditional sports-rub smell.
The MCT base is light and gives enough movement for massage without the weight of a balm. The aroma is warm, herbaceous, and resinous, with Helichrysum clearly present and a quieter chamomile note underneath.
It rises during application, then settles close to the skin.
The Formula
Athlete Magic™ was built around what worked tissue tends to need after exertion: attention to tenderness, inflammatory reactivity, stiffness, and the return to comfortable movement.
Helichrysum italicum is the centre of the formula. This batch is Corsican material, typically an oxygenated, neryl-acetate-rich chemotype — though the exact profile depends on harvest stage and distillation, not origin alone. Its long use around overworked and recently strained tissue is supported by experimental research on inflammatory and tissue-repair processes.
German Chamomile CO₂ tempers the formula for tender, reactive tissue. Chamomile preparations have been studied for their effects on inflammatory signaling and have also been investigated topically in musculoskeletal-comfort settings.
Ginger Root CO₂ contributes warmth. Its gingerol-rich extract supplies Ginger's characteristic heat, with gingerols also studied for a possible role in circulation.
Frankincense Carterii CO₂ contributes a broader resin-associated fraction than the distilled essential oil alone. Boswellia carteri resin and its triterpene constituents have been studied in inflammatory models, giving Frankincense a place in the formula's joint-comfort context.
MCT oil provides the glide needed for deliberate massage over muscles, joints, and surrounding tissue.
Together, the formula approaches post-exertion care from complementary directions rather than relying on one strong sensation or one botanical action.
Formulation Logic
RESEARCH-FORMULATED™ · Formulation Logic, Applied.
We look at botanical identity, extraction method, constituent chemistry, published research, and the role each material needs to play in a post-exertion formula.
Athlete Magic™ is built around Helichrysum, supported by Ginger, Frankincense Carterii, and German Chamomile CO₂ extracts — each contributing a different part of the formulation for a more complete approach to everyday physical recovery.
What do we do with that knowledge? We formulate.
Aromatic Profile
Warm, herbaceous, and resinous.
Helichrysum gives the blend its distinctive honeyed-green character. Ginger adds a low, warm spice rather than a sharp heat, while Frankincense forms the dry resinous base. German Chamomile appears more quietly underneath.
The aroma is functional rather than perfumed. It becomes clear during massage, then settles close to the skin.
How We Use It
Apply Athlete Magic™ after training, repetitive physical work, long periods of sitting, or ordinary physical overexertion.
Massage a small amount slowly into the affected muscles, joints, and surrounding tissue. The massage is part of the formula's use: take enough time to notice where the area feels tight, guarded, heavy, or resistant.
We reach for it:
- After sport, hiking, cycling, lifting, or demanding physical work
- When particular areas repeatedly feel worked after training
- After prolonged travel or extended periods of sitting
- As part of an end-of-day physical recovery routine
Athlete Magic™ is intended for situational use. Apply it while the body is recovering, then leave it alone when it is no longer needed.

Lineage Note
Athlete Magic™ is one of Eric R. Cêch's own formulations, developed around the recovery demands of his athletic and extreme-sport practice.
The idea was not to suppress sensation so that the body could be pushed harder. It was to give worked tissue time, warmth, massage, and attentive care on the other side of effort.
That remains the role of the formula.

A direct GC/GC-MS analysis of Corsican Helichrysum italicum essential oil, finding neryl acetate as the predominant constituent — ranging from 15.8% in early-shoot material to 42.5% at full flowering, with composition shifting across the plant's growth cycle. This establishes the compositional basis for describing Corsican material as an oxygenated, neryl-acetate-rich chemotype. It is a chemistry paper; it does not test biological or therapeutic activity.

In a human skin-explant model, Corsican Helichrysum italicum essential oil and its neryl acetate fraction were shown to regulate genes involved in skin-barrier differentiation and ceramide production; 41.5% of the oil's gene-regulating effects were also produced by neryl acetate alone. This is ex-vivo skin-explant research, not a study of topical recovery from exertion, and the study was funded by Laboratoires M&L SA–Groupe L'Occitane, a cosmetics manufacturer with a commercial interest in Helichrysum.

This study directly examined supercritical Ginger CO₂ and identified gingerols and shogaols, including a substantial 6-gingerol fraction. It supports the specific reason Athlete Magic™ uses Ginger as a CO₂ extract rather than treating it as interchangeable with steam-distilled Ginger essential oil.

Researchers isolated multiple triterpene acids from Boswellia carteri resin and found activity in an experimental model of inflammation. The study supports the relevance of the resin fraction itself to Athlete Magic™'s Frankincense choice; it does not establish the concentration of those constituents in the finished Carterii CO₂ extract.

A topical chamomile preparation was studied in adults with knee osteoarthritis and showed reductions in rescue analgesic use, with some measures of function and stiffness also favouring chamomile. The preparation was not the German Chamomile CO₂ used in Athlete Magic™, but the study is relevant to the formula's use of topical chamomile around tender, physically stressed areas.
