In contrast, the essential oil obtained from other Helichrysum species contains varying amounts of other compounds, some not found in Helichrysum italicum. For example, the African species, while of the helichrysum genus, is unique in that they contain less of the chemical components related to the notorious skin care applications of their other cousins. Rather, they are renowned for their decongestant and cold remedy use due to the high levels of 1,8-cineole.
