Muscle Recovery Oil

Athlete Magic™

Muscle Recovery Massage Oil

Massage Oil · After Exertion · Muscles & Joints · Warm, Light, Herbaceous

There is a particular kind of fatigue that shows up after the effort is over. The ride is finished, the work is done, the long day has ended — and now you know exactly where the body worked hardest.

Athlete Magic was made for that part.

Massage a small amount into muscles, joints, and surrounding areas that feel worked, tight, heavy, or slow to loosen. The formula is in a light MCT base that gives enough glide for deliberate massage.

Eric R. Cêch originally made Athlete Magic for his own use after cycling, triathlon, and other demanding physical work.

Formulation Logic

RESEARCH-FORMULATED™ · Formulation Logic, Applied.

Athlete Magic was built for the period after physical effort, when muscles and surrounding tissue feel worked, tight, tender, or slow to loosen.

Helichrysum is the center of the formula. Ginger, Frankincense, and German Chamomile were then chosen in CO₂ form where the broader extract gave us something the distilled oil did not.

The formula is carried in a light MCT base because it is meant to be worked into the area slowly. Massage is part of its use, and research on post-exercise recovery supports massage for reducing perceived soreness and fatigue in the early recovery period.

That is the logic of Athlete Magic: a concentrated botanical massage oil for the recovery side of exertion.

Why do we use CO₂ extracts in some formulas? →

Applications

Massage a small amount slowly into the area until there is enough slip to work comfortably over the muscles, joints, and surrounding tissue.

We reach for it:

  • When particular areas repeatedly feel worked after training
  • After prolonged travel or extended periods of sitting
  • As part of an end-of-day physical recovery routine

Athlete Magic is intended for situational use. Apply it while the body is recovering, then leave it alone when it is no longer needed.

Questions & Answers

Before you buy

QWhen should I use Athlete Magic after exercise?

Use it when the worked areas begin asking for attention — after training, a long ride, hiking, lifting, physical work, or any other sustained effort.

Post-exercise recovery research suggests that massage is most useful for perceived soreness in the early recovery period, particularly within the first 24 hours.

QWill Athlete Magic help delayed-onset muscle soreness?

Massage itself has one of the better evidence records among post-exercise recovery methods for reducing perceived delayed-onset muscle soreness, or DOMS.

A 2026 network meta-analysis found massage among the most effective approaches for early soreness relief after exercise. The evidence is stronger for how sore the muscles feel than for accelerating actual muscle repair or restoring performance.

Athlete Magic combines that massage with Helichrysum, Ginger CO₂, Frankincense CO₂, and German Chamomile in a light topical base.

QShould I choose Athlete Magic, First Reach™, or something else?

Choose Athlete Magic for muscles and surrounding areas that feel worked, tight, heavy, or stiff after exertion.

Choose First Reach™ for the localized aftermath of an everyday bump, knock, or bruise.

If there is significant swelling, loss of function, restricted movement, severe pain, or concern about an injury, topical recovery care is not the right next step; have the area appropriately assessed.

Feel & Finish

Warm, herbaceous, and resinous.

Helichrysum gives it a honeyed, green scent. Ginger adds a low, warm spice, and Frankincense a dry touch of resin. German Chamomile stays quietly underneath.

It becomes clear during massage, then settles close to the skin.

  • Light massage oil rather than a heavy balm
  • Warm without an aggressive hot or burning sensation
  • No mentholated cooling or numbing effect
  • No traditional sports-rub smell.

The Formula

Carrier base: fractionated coconut (MCT) oil

Active & aromatic formulation: Helichrysum italicum essential oil; Ginger Root, German Chamomile and Frankincense Carterii CO₂ extracts

Concentration: 10% in the finished formula.

Notes & Cautions

  • For external use on intact skin only. Do not ingest.
  • Do not apply to open or broken skin.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Contains German Chamomile CO₂ and Helichrysum, both members of the Asteraceae family. Avoid use if you have a known sensitivity to chamomile, ragweed, daisies, chrysanthemums, marigolds, or related plants.
  • Patch test before first use, even if your skin has not previously been sensitive or reactive. Skin sensitivities and allergies can develop or change over time, including after years of uneventful use. Discontinue use if irritation or sensitivity occurs.
  • Not intended for children.
  • Seek qualified guidance before use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Athlete Magic is for ordinary post-exertion topical care. Persistent or severe pain, significant swelling, loss of function, restricted movement, or suspected injury requires appropriate medical assessment.

Lineage

Athlete Magic came out of Eric R. Cêch’s own athletic practice and the formulas he kept close after long rides, training, and demanding physical work.

Its purpose has remained straightforward: massage and concentrated botanical care after exertion.

A meta-analysis of 99 studies on post-exercise recovery. Massage, active recovery, compression garments, water immersion, contrast water therapy, and cryotherapy reduced delayed-onset muscle soreness, and massage had the largest effect on perceived fatigue.
