Super Immune™ — Seasonal Edition

All Season Diffusion Blend · Aromatic Concentrate  ·

2026 Summer Cabinet

There are formulas we reach for because they are pleasant. Super Immune™ was never one of those.  It was composed for the weeks when everyone seems to be carrying something, the air indoors has gone stale, and a sharper aromatic presence is wanted.

The centre of Super Immune™ is built around two distinct thyme materials.

Benchmark Thyme is not a single thyme essential oil. It is a formulated blend of essential oils distilled from four cultivars of Thymus zygis, developed to bring thymol, linalool, terpinen-4-ol, and alpha-terpinene into one more balanced composition rather than relying on a single thyme chemotype.

The separate Thyme Thymol supplies a second, more phenolic expression. Together, they form the functional centre of Super Immune™.

Benchmark Thyme was not included to make the blend smell more agreeable. It was selected because of the particular formulation logic and antimicrobial research history behind it.  A few minutes in the diffuser is usually enough.

Overview

Super Immune™ is one of the most frequently requested formulas from the Ananda archive. Those who have kept it in the cabinet over the years generally know when it belongs there.

This is a concentrated aromatic blend for short, purposeful diffusion during higher-exposure seasons, while travelling, or when a shared space needs to feel clearer and more sharply defined.

It is intended for diffusion and brief inhalation only. Not as a continuous room fragrance, and not as background scent running throughout the day.

Questions & Answers

Why not simply diffuse Tea Tree or an ordinary Thyme oil?

Because neither is equivalent to the thyme system at the centre of Super Immune™.  Benchmark Thyme was itself formulated from oils distilled from four cultivars of Thymus zygis, selected to bring thymol, linalool, alpha-terpinene, and terpinen-4-ol into one material. Super Immune™ then combines it with a separate Thyme Thymol and supporting botanicals chosen for complementary functional profiles. It is a constructed formula rather than a single familiar oil carrying the whole burden. Super Immune™ is a concentrated 10 mL aromatic blend with no carrier oil.

Was Benchmark Thyme actually studied, or is its importance mainly historical?

It was studied. University of Brighton researchers tested the material—then designated Oil B—against two methicillin-sensitive and two epidemic methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus. The blend demonstrated inhibitory and bactericidal activity under direct-contact laboratory conditions and compared favourably with the single linalool-chemotype thyme oil used as the control comparison. The study did not test Super Immune™, household diffusion, cold prevention, or immune function in people.

Can I rely on Super Immune™ to keep me from getting sick?

Not as a guarantee or medical intervention. The formula was built from botanicals with traditional use and laboratory research relevant to antimicrobial, antiviral, biofilm, and related biological mechanisms. That research supports the formulation logic; it does not establish that the finished blend prevents colds, disinfects an occupied room, or increases immune function in humans. We use it as one part of a practical higher-exposure routine.

Is it only for winter, and how does it fit into a shared household?

No. Super Immune™ is maintained as a year-round cabinet staple for air travel, shared offices, indoor gatherings, visitor periods, closed-window months, and other times of increased exposure. Diffuse briefly, then stop and allow the room to settle. It is not intended for use with children. Around animals, use conservatively in a ventilated space and allow pets to leave freely.

The Formula

The centre of Super Immune™ is built around two distinct thyme materials.

Benchmark Thyme is itself a composed material—a formulation of four carefully selected thyme cultivars developed by Maggie Tisserand to bring several complementary thyme chemistries into one balanced whole. Thyme Thymol supplies the more forceful phenolic edge. Together, they form the functional centre of Super Immune™.

Tea Tree, Rosalina, Ravintsara, Ravensara, and Bay Laurel extend that centre through related but distinct botanical chemistries traditionally used in seasonal and shared-environment preparations. Petitgrain Bigarade keeps the concentrate coherent and usable without turning it into perfume.

Nothing here was chosen simply for scent. Each material earns its place through traditional use, constituent profile, and research relevant to the logic of the formula.

This Seasonal Edition contains the last remaining Benchmark Thyme available to Ananda. Its production has ended, and an ordinary thyme oil would not reproduce the same material or the same formula.

Aromatic Profile

The opening is brisk and green, with a quick flash of citrus leaf and something lightly fruit-like behind it. That brightness is brief. It clears the way for the stronger herbal body underneath.

As the blend develops in the room, Thyme becomes more evident—dry, penetrating, and unmistakably botanical. Rosalina rounds the harder edges while Tea Tree, Ravintsara, and Ravensara keep the profile open and sharply defined.

The finish is leafy, clean, and slightly spicy. Functional rather than perfumed. Its presence is immediate, and it recedes once diffusion stops.

How We Use It

  • Diffuse intermittently during higher-exposure seasons.
  • Use for short intervals in shared rooms, offices, hotel rooms, and other travel environments.
  • For brief personal inhalation, open the bottle and inhale lightly from a comfortable distance.

We do not leave Super Immune™ running continuously. Diffuse for a short period, stop, and allow the room to settle before deciding whether more is needed.

More is not necessarily better with a formula this concentrated.

Ingredients

Benchmark Thyme, Thyme Thymol, Rosalina, Tea Tree, Ravintsara, Ravensara, Bay Laurel, and Petitgrain Bigarade essential oils.

Notes and Cautions

For diffusion and brief inhalation only. Not intended for topical application or ingestion.

Not intended for use with children. Use conservatively in enclosed spaces and avoid continuous diffusion. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.

If pregnant, nursing, under medical care, or unusually sensitive to strong aromatic materials, consult a qualified professional before use. Discontinue use if irritation or discomfort occurs.

Essential oils are highly concentrated botanical materials. Please review Ananda’s Safety & Responsible Use guidelines before use.

Lineage Note

Super Immune™ comes from Ananda’s earlier formulation practice: selecting botanicals for the way their traditional uses and constituent profiles reinforce one another, then allowing the aroma to be whatever the formula requires.

At its centre is Benchmark Thyme, Maggie Tisserand’s four-cultivar thyme formulation. Production has ended, and this edition contains the last material available to Ananda. Once it is exhausted, this exact formula cannot be reproduced by substituting an ordinary thyme oil.

Although first returned to the cabinet as a Seasonal Edition, demand has established Super Immune™ as a year-round cabinet staple while this material remains available.

For the full history of Benchmark Thyme, the University of Brighton research, traditional-use context for each ingredient, and the constituent-level logic behind the formula, see

Super Immune™ Legacy Archive and Therapeutic Notes Legacy Archive entry for this season’s Super Immune™.

Seasonal and future editions may shift as harvests and available materials change. The original intention does not.

Availability and Sizes

Super Immune™ will remain a year-round cabinet staple and will be offered with each Cabinet release.

The current Benchmark Thyme edition will remain available while this original material lasts. Because Benchmark Thyme is no longer produced, future editions may differ in composition and will be clearly identified. A successor will not be released until its formulation meets the functional standard established by the legacy blend.

Available size: 10mL

Natural variation in aroma, colour, and viscosity may occur between harvests and distillation batches. These variations are normal characteristics of authentic botanical materials.

Further Study

The Legacy Archive preserves the broader traditional-use, constituent, and ingredient research associated with this formula. The studies below are included separately because they examine essential oils specifically in the vapour or aerosol phase—the route most relevant to how Super Immune™ is used. Neither study tested the finished blend, ordinary household diffusion, or clinical outcomes in humans. They do not establish that Super Immune™ prevents or treats infection, disinfects an occupied room, or improves immune function.

This laboratory study evaluated essential oils in the gaseous state against several respiratory-tract bacteria. Thyme oil was among the oils showing the strongest vapour-phase activity, and short exposure at a higher vapour concentration was more effective than slow evaporation. The findings do not establish effectiveness under household diffuser conditions or against infection in humans.

This controlled chamber study found that tea tree oil delivered as an aerosol or vapour inactivated model airborne viruses, including an influenza A strain, under the experimental conditions used. The concentrations and delivery equipment differed substantially from ordinary diffusion, and the study did not examine human exposure, illness prevention, or the Super Immune™ formula.
