Clear Air™
Household Air & Freshness · Aromatic Concentrate
You know the moment. A closed room after a long weekend. A kitchen that held last night's dinner a little too long. A closet that's been shut since winter. The air isn't bad — it just needs to shift.
Clear Air™ was built for that moment. Not to perfume the room, but to give it a brief aromatic reset.
Clear Air™ is a practical household blend for diffusion, linen use, and simple DIY home applications when you want the air to feel clear, bright, and reset. It is designed for everyday environments: kitchens, bathrooms, closed rooms, closets, laundry spaces, and seasonal “stale air” moments.
Formulation Logic
RESEARCH-FORMULATED™ · Formulation Logic, Applied.
Clear Air™ is built around three materials selected for what they contribute to a household cleansing formula, not simply how they smell.
Lemon Myrtle carries the principal cleansing role. Its essential oil is characteristically rich in citral — primarily geranial and neral — and has been studied for antibacterial, antifungal, and antibiofilm activity.
Tea Tree reinforces that function through different chemistry. Rich in terpinen-4-ol, Melaleuca alternifolia is one of the more extensively studied essential oils for antimicrobial activity, including research into bacterial and fungal membrane disruption and experimental vapor-phase applications. Paired with Lemon Myrtle, it gives Clear Air™ a second, complementary antimicrobial component and aromatic role.
Lavender plays both a functional and compositional role. It has documented antimicrobial activity of its own, although the evidence is more variable than for Lemon Myrtle or Tea Tree. Here, it also changes how the formula behaves aromatically. Tea Tree on its own can read strongly medicinal; Lemon Myrtle is bright and beautiful but intensely citral-led. Lavender softens those edges, introduces a light floral-herbal note, and rounds the blend so that its cleansing materials remain clearly present without making the room smell clinical or severe.
Together, the three materials give Clear Air™ what we wanted from it: a bright, cleansing household blend that still smells beautiful enough to use every day.
Applications
This is a highly concentrated blend—small amounts go a long way.
Diffusion
- Diffuse in short sessions. Can be used neat in a nebulizer diffuser or added to water-based diffusers.
Room / Linen Preparation
- Combine with distilled water + a solubilizer (required).
- Spray lightly into air, onto linens, or into corners/under beds.
Laundry
- Add a very small amount to unscented detergent.
- Or apply to a dryer cloth / fabric scrap for freshening.
Household Formulation
- Add to DIY countertop or bathroom cleanser with proper solubilizer.
- Keep away from children and pets. Wipe surfaces clean after use.
Aroma
Clean, bright, and clarifying.
Lavender with sparkling lemon-clean brightness opens the blend, giving way to herbal floral softness through the middle, and settling into a crisp, clean medicinal finish. Fresh air meets clean linen—without synthetic “air freshener” scent.
Questions & Answers
Before you buy
QWhat is the difference between Clear Air™ and Purify™?
Clear Air™ is the lighter everyday household formula. Its Lavender, Lemon Myrtle, and Tea Tree composition is intended for routine air and linen freshness. Purify™ is more forceful and persistent, built around Clove Bud and Cinnamon Bark with Lemon, Wild Rosemary, and Eucalyptus Radiata. Choose Clear Air™ for regular household use; choose Purify™ when you want the stronger aromatic composition.
QCan I use Clear Air™ as a room or linen spray?
Yes, provided it is formulated correctly. Essential oils do not remain evenly dispersed in plain water, so a room or linen spray requires an appropriate solubilizer or properly formulated base. Test finished preparations on an inconspicuous area first, particularly with delicate fabrics or surfaces.
QDoes Clear Air™ clean the air?
Lemon Myrtle and Tea Tree are both well studied for antimicrobial activity. Laboratory research has demonstrated antibacterial and antifungal activity in the oils, which is part of the formulation logic behind Clear Air™. In everyday use, the blend gives a room a bright, clean aromatic reset — particularly useful when a space has been closed, stale or holding onto unwanted odors.
Clear Air™ is a household aromatic blend rather than a registered disinfectant, so for surfaces that need sanitizing, use a product made for that job.
Ingredients
A concentrated aromatic blend of the following essential oils: Lavender, Lemon Myrtle, Tea Tree.
Notes and Cautions
Lemon Myrtle and Tea Tree are powerful aromatic materials. Use conservatively—especially in small spaces or around sensitive individuals.
- Diffuse briefly, ventilate as needed, and avoid direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and delicate surfaces.
See Safety & Responsible Use for Ananda's general essential-oil guidance.

Further Study
A selection of research relevant to the materials and formulation logic behind Clear Air™. These studies examine individual essential oils and laboratory applications rather than Clear Air™ itself. They do not establish that ordinary household diffusion disinfects or sanitizes indoor air.
Carson CF, Hammer KA, Riley TV. Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil: a Review of Antimicrobial and Other Medicinal Properties. Clinical Microbiology Reviews. 2006;19(1):50–62.
This major review summarizes Tea Tree essential oil's antibacterial and antifungal activity and research into its principal antimicrobial constituents, particularly terpinen-4-ol. Mechanistic studies described membrane disruption, leakage of intracellular material, and impairment of microbial cellular function. The review also discusses experimental vapor-phase activity.
Wilkinson JM, Hipwell M, Ryan T, Cavanagh HMA. Bioactivity of Backhousia citriodora: antibacterial and antifungal activity. Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. 2003;51(1):76–81.
Four Lemon Myrtle essential-oil samples were tested against multiple bacteria and fungi and demonstrated antibacterial and antifungal activity under laboratory conditions. Activity varied between samples and did not correlate simply with citral content.
Chemical Composition, Antioxidant, Antibacterial, and Antibiofilm Activities of Backhousia citriodora Essential Oil. Molecules. 2022;27(15):4895.
GC-MS analysis identified geranial and neral as the dominant constituents of the tested Lemon Myrtle oil. The oil demonstrated antibacterial and antibiofilm activity in vitro, with stronger activity against the Gram-positive organisms tested. The work supports the functional relevance of Lemon Myrtle as a material.
