PranaFy
Breath-Centered Aromatic Blend · Yoga · Meditation · Conscious Breathing
PranaFy™ began in Ananda's early Boulder yoga community, created by a yoga instructor for one of the simplest practices at the center of yoga: paying attention to the breath.
The formula brings together two Eucalyptus oils, Peppermint, Spruce, Pine, Cypress, Myrtle, Marjoram and High-Elevation Lavender. The first impression is fresh and expansive; beneath it is a quieter forested and herbal character that settles naturally into slower breathing, meditation and practice.
It was passed from one person to another within the yoga community and became one of those early Ananda blends people continued to ask for by name.
PranaFy™ is the blend for the practice of breathing itself — when the intention is to slow down, breathe deliberately and create an aromatic environment that makes attention to the breath feel natural.
Formulation Logic
RESEARCH-FORMULATED™ · Formulation Logic, Applied.
PranaFy™ was composed around the experience of conscious breathing: freshness and a sense of breathing space at the beginning, followed by a quieter aromatic character as the practice settles.
Eucalyptus and Peppermint establish its immediate fresh, cooling character. Menthol, a principal constituent of Peppermint, has been shown in human studies to increase the sensation of nasal airflow even when measured airway resistance does not change. This distinction closely reflects the role PranaFy™ was originally created to serve: an aromatic sense of breathing space rather than treatment of respiratory obstruction.
Spruce, Pine Needle and Cypress carry that freshness into a more expansive, forest-like aromatic environment. Myrtle and Sweet Marjoram add herbal depth, while High-Elevation Lavender softens the composition and brings a quieter quality particularly suited to slower breathing, yoga and meditation.
The formulation moves from freshness and perceived openness toward steadiness and settling — the same direction as the practice it was created to accompany.
Applications
Yoga & Breath Practice
Diffuse before or during a practice centered on slow, deliberate breathing. PranaFy™ works particularly well when attention repeatedly returns to the breath.
Meditation
Use aromatically when moving from physical practice or an active day into quieter seated meditation.
Personal Inhalation
Use when you want to interrupt a hurried moment and deliberately return attention to slower breathing.
Everyday Diffusion
Diffuse in a living or work space when you want its fresh, forested aromatic character without specifically seeking a respiratory formula.
Aroma
Fresh, open and beautifully forested.
Eucalyptus and Peppermint give PranaFy™ its first cool breath of freshness, followed by softer notes of pine, herbs and Lavender. Clean without being sharp, it has the feeling of fresh air moving through a quiet forest — expansive at first, then gently settling.
Questions & Answers
Before you buy
QWhy does PranaFy™ work so naturally with breathwork and yoga?
PranaFy™ was originally created within the yoga community for exactly this purpose: bringing aroma into the part of practice where attention returns to the breath.
There is also an interesting sensory reason the formula works well here. Menthol, found in Peppermint, has been shown in human studies to increase the sensation of nasal airflow and cooling. That fresh Eucalyptus-and-Peppermint opening gives PranaFy™ its characteristic sense of breathing space, while the quieter aromatics bring the blend naturally into slower practice and meditation.
QCan aroma actually help with the transition from active practice into meditation?
There is useful research here. A systematic review of controlled human studies found that Lavender essential-oil inhalation was associated with reduced anxiety measures in most of the included trials.
That helps explain the other side of PranaFy™. It begins fresh and expansive, but High-Elevation Lavender is part of a formula intended to move with you toward quieter breathing and settling — particularly useful when yoga moves into savasana, breath practice or meditation.
QDo I need to diffuse PranaFy™ throughout my whole practice?
No. Sometimes a brief aromatic cue is more useful than filling the room with scent for an entire session.
Use it before breathwork, at the beginning of practice, or when moving from physical movement into meditation. Personal inhalation is another good option when you want the aromatic cue close to you without scenting the entire space.
In a shared yoga class, keep in mind that not everyone wants aroma during practice, so personal use or light diffusion is usually the more considerate approach.
Ingredients
A concentrated aromatic blend of essential oils:
Eucalyptus globulus · Eucalyptus radiata · Spruce · Pine Needle · High-Elevation Lavender · Peppermint · Cypress · Sweet Marjoram · Wild Myrtle
Notes & Cautions
- For external aromatic and properly diluted topical use only.
- Diffuse conservatively and with adequate ventilation.
- Avoid direct contact with eyes, nose and mucous membranes. Do not ingest.
- Use particular care around young children with Peppermint- and Eucalyptus-containing preparations.
- People with fragrance sensitivity or reactive airways may find strong aromatic diffusion uncomfortable.

Which Blend Should I Choose?
Both are Ananda Legacy blends connected to the breath. They were created for different needs.
Choose PranaFy™ for conscious breathing, yoga and meditation.
PranaFy™ was created within the yoga community for breath-centered practice. Its fresh Eucalyptus, Peppermint and conifer opening creates an aromatic sense of breathing space, while Lavender, Marjoram and Myrtle bring the composition toward a quieter, more settled finish.
Choose it when the intention is to slow down, breathe deliberately and bring attention back to the breath — during yoga, meditation, stretching or simply a pause in the day.
Choose Breathe Deep™ when respiratory comfort is the need.
Breathe Deep™ is the more respiratory-directed formula. Ravintsara, Eucalyptus radiata, Peppermint, Lemon and Wintergreen create a stronger, invigorating aromatic profile traditionally used when breathing feels congested or obstructed.
Choose it when you are reaching for a blend specifically because you want a more direct, clearing respiratory aromatic experience.
Lineage
PranaFy™ is one of Ananda's early Boulder formulations.
Created by a yoga instructor and shared within the local yoga community, it developed around the role of breath in practice — the repeated instruction to slow down, breathe deeply and return attention to breathing.
The name grew from that yogic context: prana, the Sanskrit concept associated with breath and vital energy, joined to the playful “-fy” construction of the original name.
What began as a blend passed around within the yoga community became one people continued to request by name.

Further Study
The research below concerns individual materials or constituents relevant to this formulation.
Menthol & the Sensation of Airflow
Human experimental research found that menthol produced a subjective sensation of improved nasal airflow without a corresponding reduction in measured nasal resistance.
This distinction is particularly relevant to PranaFy™. Peppermint's menthol-rich aromatic character can contribute to the sensation of coolness and breathing space without establishing that the airways have physically opened.
Menthol & Objective Airway Resistance
In healthy adults, inhaled menthol did not significantly change upper-airway resistance, ventilation or respiratory timing.
Together with earlier sensory research, this helps distinguish perceived breathing clarity from measurable respiratory opening.
Lavender Inhalation & Anxiety
This systematic review examined controlled human studies of Lavender essential-oil inhalation. Most of the included studies reported reductions in measured anxiety, although populations, methods and inhalation protocols varied considerably.
The evidence is relevant here not because Lavender has been shown to alter breathing mechanics, but because it provides context for the quieter side of PranaFy™ — the movement from its fresh aromatic opening toward a more settled environment for deliberate breathing and meditation.
