Super Immune™ (coming soon!)
Super Immune™ is Ananda's antimicrobial essential-oil formulation for purposeful seasonal diffusion and inhalation.
At its foundation is Special Thyme™ — Ananda's three-chemotype thyme formulation, deliberately constructed around the different antimicrobial chemistry found in thymol-, linalool-, and thujanol-rich thyme.
Published research shows that these chemically distinct thyme types differ in composition and antimicrobial activity. Ananda uses those differences deliberately, rather than treating every bottle labeled Thymus vulgaris as the same material.
Seven additional essential oils are then built around that antimicrobial thyme foundation — extending the formula with complementary antimicrobial, respiratory, and botanical chemistry.
Special Thyme™ establishes the antimicrobial foundation. Seven supporting oils broaden the formula.
One concentrated thyme core. Seven supporting materials. Every one has a job.
The Formula
We do not add oils because they belong on a seasonal list. We give each one a job.
Special Thyme™
Three chemically different thyme chemotypes — thymol-, linalool-, and thujanol-rich Thymus vulgaris — deliberately combined to give the formula a broader antimicrobial thyme foundation than any single expression of thyme could provide.
Explore Special Thyme™ →The 1,8-Cineole Complex
Eucalyptus Narrow Leaf, Rosalina, Ravintsara, and Bay Laurel. This is not redundancy — it is the same formulation principle applied again: several botanical sources contribute substantial 1,8-cineole, but each carries different supporting chemistry. 1,8-cineole is particularly relevant because its documented actions include mucus modulation, anti-inflammatory activity, and respiratory effects, alongside antimicrobial activity.
Eucalyptus Narrow Leaf — a major 1,8-cineole-rich component, giving Super Immune™ its clear, penetrating respiratory character.
Rosalina — a different secondary constituent profile from Eucalyptus, expanding the cineole layer without simply repeating the same oil.
Ravintsara — another 1,8-cineole-rich profile, with secondary chemistry that differs from both Eucalyptus and Rosalina.
Bay Laurel — a cineole-containing profile with additional herbaceous secondary chemistry, distinguishing it from the eucalyptus-type materials.
Pine, Lavender & Melissa
Different constituent families broaden the formula beyond thyme and cineole.
Pine Needle — pinene-rich chemistry, a major monoterpene family found throughout coniferous essential oils, with its own antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory research history.
Lavender — linalool- and linalyl-acetate-rich chemistry, contributing documented antibacterial and antibiofilm activity of its own, and helping integrate the more forceful materials into a coherent formula.
Melissa — citral-rich chemistry, used in a smaller proportion, with documented antimicrobial activity and antiviral activity demonstrated in laboratory models involving enveloped viruses.
Super Immune™ brings together the right antimicrobial, respiratory, mucus-clearing, anti-inflammatory, and balancing chemistries for the season — a deliberately layered formula built for periods of increased microbial exposure.
Questions & Answers
What is Super Immune™ actually intended to do?
Super Immune™ was created as strong seasonal aromatic support for the times when microbial exposure tends to increase — cold and flu season, travel, shared spaces, and the periods when people around you are coughing, sneezing, and passing things around.
The formulation starts with Special Thyme™, which combines three chemically different thyme profiles with documented antimicrobial activity. Instead of relying on one expression of thyme, Ananda deliberately brings thymol-, linalool-, and thujanol-rich chemistry together to create a broader antimicrobial thyme foundation.
Then a second major part of the formula brings together several 1,8-cineole-rich oils, followed by additional antimicrobial and complementary botanical chemistries.
That is the logic behind the name Super Immune™: a deliberately layered aromatic formula built for seasonal support when the body's normal defenses are being asked to deal with more.
The finished formula has not been clinically tested as a treatment or preventive for cold, flu, or infection. The formulation logic comes from what is known about the materials from which it is built.
What makes Special Thyme™ the antimicrobial "power center" of the formula?
Thymol-rich thyme is an exceptionally assertive antimicrobial essential-oil chemistry. But Thymus vulgaris can express other chemotypes that are chemically quite different and have antimicrobial activity of their own.
Special Thyme™ deliberately combines three of those expressions: thymol-rich thyme supplies the strongest phenolic antimicrobial component; linalool-rich thyme contributes a second, chemically different antimicrobial profile; thujanol-rich thyme introduces another distinct expression of the species rather than simply adding more thymol.
The advantage is not that Ananda can claim "three times stronger." We have not tested the finished combination that way. The advantage is that we are not asking one chemotype to represent all of thyme's useful chemistry.
Special Thyme™ takes several of the plant's useful chemical expressions and deliberately places them together. That is why it earns its position at the center of Super Immune™.
Why is there so much emphasis on 1,8-cineole-rich oils? What does 1,8-cineole actually contribute?
Because 1,8-cineole is one of the most extensively studied constituents associated with respiratory essential oils. Its relevance goes considerably beyond the familiar "eucalyptus smell."
Research on standardized 1,8-cineole has documented mucolytic activity — helping address excessive or difficult mucus — together with anti-inflammatory effects in the respiratory tract and effects on airway function. It also has documented antimicrobial activity. This helps explain why Eucalyptus Narrow Leaf, Rosalina, Ravintsara, and Bay Laurel occupy so much of the formulation architecture.
Using several cineole-rich oils is not accidental duplication. They share an important constituent, but they are not chemically identical — each botanical surrounds its 1,8-cineole with a different supporting constituent profile. Ananda is applying essentially the same principle used in Special Thyme™: identify an important chemistry, understand how different plants express it, deliberately formulate with those differences.
The clinical studies on 1,8-cineole used standardized preparations and do not demonstrate that diffusing Super Immune™ produces those same clinical effects. They explain why this chemistry is important to the formulation.
What do the pinene-, linalool/linalyl-acetate-, and citral-rich materials contribute?
They prevent Super Immune™ from becoming a formula built only around thyme and 1,8-cineole.
Pinene-rich chemistry, represented particularly by Pine Needle, introduces another major monoterpene family found throughout coniferous essential oils. Pinene-rich oils have their own antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory research history and give the formula chemistry that is materially different from either thymol or cineole.
Linalool and linalyl acetate, strongly represented in Lavender, bring another chemical family again. Lavender's role is not merely aromatic — its essential oil has demonstrated antibacterial and antibiofilm activity, while its linalool-rich chemistry gives the formula a less phenolic, less cineole-dominated antimicrobial profile.
Citral-rich chemistry, represented by Melissa, takes the composition in yet another direction. Citral-rich materials have documented antimicrobial activity, and Melissa essential oil has also demonstrated antiviral activity in laboratory models involving enveloped viruses.
These materials are not decorative additions. They expand the chemical territory of the formula beyond its two principal power centers.
Isn't Lavender mainly for calming and sleep? Why is it in Super Immune™?
That is one of the problems with reducing essential oils to a single popular use. Lavender is certainly associated with relaxation, but that describes only part of its chemistry.
Lavandula angustifolia essential oil also has documented antibacterial activity, including research involving respiratory-tract bacteria and bacterial biofilms. Even more relevant to Ananda's formulation philosophy, research has shown that when Lavender was harvested changed its chemistry and its measured antibacterial performance. That matters — it shows that "Lavender" is not a fixed chemical object any more than "Thyme" is.
Inside Super Immune™, Lavender therefore performs two useful jobs: it brings a linalool/linalyl-acetate-rich antimicrobial profile that differs from the thyme and cineole power centers, and it helps make those more assertive materials work together as a coherent aromatic formula. It is here because of what the material contributes — not because every strong blend needs some Lavender.
Why not simplify the formula and use only Thyme and Eucalyptus?
Because that would produce a very different formula. It would give us strong phenolic thyme chemistry and strong cineole chemistry, but it would remove the additional chemical families contributed by the other botanicals.
Super Immune™ was deliberately constructed in layers: Special Thyme™ for broad thyme antimicrobial chemistry; the cineole-rich complex for respiratory, mucus-modulating, anti-inflammatory, and complementary antimicrobial chemistry; and Pine, Lavender, and Melissa for additional pinene-, linalool/linalyl-acetate-, and citral-rich chemistry.
The formula is not complex because more ingredients look impressive. It is complex because the materials are doing different chemical jobs. That is the difference between assembling a list of "immune oils" and formulating.
Aromatic Character
Strong thyme and fresh eucalyptus lead the aroma, with dry pine and bay beneath them.
Lavender softens the sharper edges, while Melissa adds a light brightness to the opening.
How We Use It
Diffusion
Add a small amount to a diffuser. Diffuse for a short interval, long enough to establish the aroma, then switch off. Suitable for purposeful intermittent diffusion in living areas, offices, hotel rooms, and similar shared environments.
Direct Inhalation
Inhale briefly from the bottle when desired, or place a drop or two on an aroma strip, cotton wick, or similar inhalation medium.
Palm Inhalation
A drop or two in the palms, rubbed together and cupped over the nose to inhale, is fine. This is an inhalation method, not topical application.
Not for Topical Use
Beyond palm inhalation, this edition is intended for diffusion and brief inhalation only. Do not apply to the skin or pulse points.

2. 1,8-Cineole / Respiratory Research
Oral, standardized 1,8-cineole has clinical evidence for bronchitis symptom relief. This is a different exposure route from diffusing an aromatic blend — it explains why cineole-rich materials are relevant to the formulation, not that diffusing Super Immune™ produces the same clinical effect.
