Most grooming routines become complicated very quickly: one product for shaving, another for the beard, another for the face.
The Standard™ was made to keep things simpler. One oil for freshly shaved skin, the face, and the beard itself, with enough substance to condition and a light, dry finish.
The aroma is dry, woody and resinous, and stays close to the skin.
Although The Standard™ grew out of men’s grooming, the formula itself is not gender-specific. It is simply a daily face oil that can also be used as a beard oil for anyone who prefers a dry, woody, resinous aroma to Rose or florals.
Formulation Logic

We start with Jojoba because it works equally well on skin and beard: light, easy to spread, and useful at the surface of the skin where the barrier does its work. Pomegranate Seed oil gives the base a little more substance.
Rosehip Seed and Carrot Root CO₂ bring the concentrated, oil-soluble parts of those plants into the formula. Rosehip contributes fatty acids, natural vitamin E compounds and carotenoids; Carrot Root contributes its carotenoid-rich fraction.
Frankincense, Myrrh, Indian Sandalwood and Corsican Helichrysum give The Standard™ its dry, resinous character. Helichrysum also has a skin role: human skin-explant research found effects on the skin’s production of ceramides, the natural lipids that help form the skin barrier and hold moisture in.
Applications
- After shaving, press a small amount over clean, dry skin.
- For beard care, work it through the facial hair and into the skin beneath.
- It may also be used as a daily facial oil, morning or evening.
- Begin sparingly. A small amount goes a long way.

Before you buy
QWill it leave my face or beard greasy?
Not when used sparingly. Work a small amount fully into the skin and beard, then give it a minute to absorb before dressing. Using too much may leave residue that transfers to fabric.
QDoes it smell like incense, beard oil, or cologne?
No. The aroma is restrained—dry wood, soft resin, and a faint earthy note. It stays close to the skin and settles quickly.
QCan I use it on my face even if I do not have a beard?
Yes. Use a small amount on clean, dry skin—with or without a beard. For very dry skin, it can be applied after a lightweight moisturizer.
Feel & Finish
Light, easy to spread, and dry in finish. Comfortable on the face, beneath a beard, or after shaving.
The aroma comes directly from the materials themselves, with a subtle herbaceous lift. There is no menthol and no cooling effect.

Essential oils: Frankincense sacra, Corsican Helichrysum and Indian Sandalwood
Carrier base: Jojoba and Pomegranate Seed oils
Concentration: 3.33% in the finished formula.
Notes & Cautions
- For external use only. Avoid direct eye contact and mucous membranes.
- Patch test before first use, even if your skin has not previously been sensitive or reactive. Skin sensitivities and allergies can develop or change over time, including after years of uneventful use. Discontinue use if irritation or sensitivity occurs.
- Safety of the finished formula during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and use in children has not been established. Seek qualified guidance before use in these groups.
- Store tightly closed, away from heat and direct light.

Human studies
In an in vivo study of human skin, jojoba oil remained primarily within the superficial layers of the stratum corneum (the skin’s outermost layer) and influenced the organization of its intercellular lipids.
Applied to human skin in vivo, jojoba, almond, and paraffin oils changed how water was distributed and bound in the stratum corneum. The authors concluded that these oils have an occlusive effect, holding water in the skin, similar to petrolatum.
Laboratory and skin-explant studies
In cultured cells and ex vivo human skin explants, Corsican Helichrysum italicum essential oil influenced genes associated with epidermal differentiation, skin-barrier formation and ceramide synthesis, with measured changes in involucrin, epidermal lipids and ceramides. Industry-funded.
In human keratinocyte and dermal-fibroblast models, pomegranate seed oil reduced several inflammatory mediators and accelerated fibroblast wound closure.
